Three things about the Spirit Filled Life

1. YOU WILL LIVE IN THE SPIRIT Vs 16-17

Walk - to live or be occupied by

Rom 6:4

Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

Rom 8:4

That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
Note; There is a two fold meaning here with this word. It means to abide in the presence of - or - the Spirit indwelling. Either way the implication is, that someone or someplace, will take on the characteristics of that thing or place.

Gal 5:16

This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.
Gal 5:17
For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.
Statement -- "Living in the Spirit frees us from the control of lust!"

2. YOU WILL BE LED BY THE SPIRIT Vs 18-24

Rom 8:14
For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
Rom 6:14
For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.
Note; Not being under the law - only means, the keeping of the law is not a condition of acceptance with God. It's just reveals our sinfulness to us.

Gal 5:18
But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.
Gal 5:19
Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,
Gal 5:20
Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,
Gal 5:21
Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
Gal 5:22
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,

Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
Gal 5:24
And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.
3. YOU WILL LINE UP WITH THE SPIRIT Vs 25 & 26

Gal 5:25
If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
Gal 5:26
Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.
Statement -- Lining up with the Spirit frees us to be controlled by the Lord.

Heb 4:12

For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

1. Let us be Quick...(Living)

Gen 12:1
Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, unto a land that I will show thee:
Gen 12:2
And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing:
Gen 12:3
And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.

We can choose to use the word of God and be blessed or not, remember it will effect those around us.
2. Let us be Powerful...(Active)

Mat 26:52
Then said Jesus unto him, Put up again thy sword into his place: for all they that take the sword shall perish with the sword.
Mat 26:53
Thinkest thou that I cannot now pray to my Father, and he shall presently give me more than twelve legions of angels?
Mat 26:54
But how then shall the Scriptures be fulfilled, that thus it must be?
3. Let us be Sharp...(Penetrating)

And, behold, there was a man named Zacchaeus, which was the chief among the publicans, and he was rich.

And when Jesus came to the place, he looked up, and saw him, and said unto him, Zacchaeus, make haste, and come down; for today I must abide at thy house.

We have a high priest that understands and that allows us to come before him with our needs. Our you willing to admit you need a savior, you have sins? Ask Jesus to save you and help you. Reread vs. 16

How important is it to read the Bible? Here is the answer of some of America's historically prominent men: Andrew Jackson said, "That book, sir, [the Bible] is the rock on which our republic rests." George Washington put it this way: "It is impossible to righteously govern the world without God and the Bible...." Charles Dickens stated, "The New Testament is the very best book that ever was or ever will be known in the world." Horace Greeley asserted, "It is impossible to mentally or socially enslave a Bible-reading people." Finally President Woodrow Wilson urged, "I ask every man and woman in this audience that from this day on we realize that part of the destiny of America lies in their daily perusal of this Book [the Bible]."

Reading the Bible and following its instructions will enable you to find Christ as your all-sufficient Savior. Further, regular reading will minimize your anxieties, decrease appetite for lying, cheating, stealing, immorality, and all manner of sin. You will realize real peace, joy, and love in your life.

The Battle is Not Yours

2Ch 20:15
And he said, Hearken ye, all Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem, and thou king Jehoshaphat, Thus saith the LORD unto you, Be not afraid nor dismayed by reason of this great multitude; for the battle is not yours, but God's.
2Ch 20:16
Tomorrow go ye down against them: behold, they come up by the cliff of Ziz; and ye shall find them at the end of the brook, before the wilderness of Jeruel.

Ye shall not need to fight in this battle: set yourselves, stand ye still, and see the salvation of the LORD with you, O Judah and Jerusalem: fear not, nor be dismayed; tomorrow go out against them: for the LORD will be with you.
1. The first thing that I want to point out is the vast army that Judah was facing.

the economic crisis

attacks that satan is throwing at you

difficult times in your life

cancer

drugs

something standing in the way of God's call on your life or your personal relationship with Jesus

or anything else that you might be facing

2. The first thing that you need to do is take it to God in prayer.

Whatever "armies" you may be facing...seek God in prayer.
i. As we talk about this passage I want you to think about something in your life that might represent this army... whether it be....ii. We are going to look at how to handle these "armies."
2Ch 20:4
And Judah gathered themselves together, to ask help of the LORD: even out of all the cities of Judah they came to seek the LORD.
Two things need to be on every Christian's prayer list is " God, show me your will" and " God use my life to bring glory to your Name.

2Ch 20:12
O our God, wilt thou not judge them? for we have no might against this great company that cometh against us; neither know we what to do: but our eyes are upon thee.
"

3. After we seek God we need to stop and listen.

4. Next the passage tells us is that we should not fear.

Thus saith the LORD unto you, Be not afraid nor dismayed by reason of this great multitude; for the battle
is not yours, but God's.

The great part about this is that we know who wins this spiritual war! Jesus Christ has already conquered death! If you are not saved you need to know that there is spiritual warfare going on for your soul. Jesus has already won! All you have to do is join His army.

5. Lastly, you have to show up!

2Ch 20:17
Ye shall not need to fight in this battle: set yourselves, stand ye still, and see the salvation of the LORD with you, O Judah and Jerusalem: fear not, nor be dismayed; tomorrow go out against them: for the LORD will be with you.
If we stop and listen but we don't show up... God can't use us. We have to be willing to allow God to use us. We have to take our positions.

Next we stand firm and see the Lord's deliverance. The English Standard Version states, " hold your position, and see the salvation of the Lord on your behalf."

Christ died for our sins. For each one of us so that we might be reconnected with our Creator.

He delivered us for our sake to bring glory to the Fathers name.

If you are facing an army that is too big for you... will you...

1. Take it to God in prayer...

2. Listen to what he tells you...

3. Give the battle to God...

4. And allow Him to work in your life?

A life that is led, controlled, filled with & anointed by the Holy Spirit.

A life where we - " Then said Jesus unto his disciples,

So lets look at the trans Jordan settlers & the post Jordan settlers.

I. THE COMPROMISING CHILDREN ch. 13:8-33

East of the Jordan

2 1/2 tribes - Reuben, Gad, 1/2 tribe of Manasseh

What are the signs of their compromising and complacency?

A. They Were Captivated By The Allurement of The Land ch. 13:8-32, Numbers 32:1
...I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me." Mat 16:24

Note: We in America are so captivate by the things of this world.

B. They Failed To Drive The Evil Inhabitants. ch. 13:13, 15:63, 16:10, 17:12-13.
Now the children of Reuben and the children of Gad had a very great multitude of cattle: and when they saw the land of Jazer, and the land of Gilead, that, behold, the place was a place for cattle;

C. They Neglected The Warnings of Impending Danger vs. 22

1. We need to be might men of valor. (We have a job to do For Jesus)

2. We need to come together. (We need to have an active role, and we need to work together)

3. We need to keep rank, with a perfect heart, one heart. (We have the same goal...to see souls saved)

Special Service for the Senior Adults provide by the Youth

The youth would like to provide the Senior Adults with a special Christmas treat Wednesday night Dec. 17th at 6:30.

We will have refreshments, fingerfoods, etc. Come so we can can say Thank you, for all of your love and support for our church and your inspiration. We thank you for being a great role model, and for showing us how to live a life dedicated to God.

2. Showed God's Provisions

Gen 28:14 And thy seed shall be as the dust of the earth, and thou shalt spread abroad to the west, and to the east, and to the north, and to the south: and in thee and in thy seed shall all the families of the earth be blessed.

Revival with Dr. Hoskins Cancled Due to illness

Dr. Phil Hoskins sends his regrets, he was looking forward to being with us in revival, his Doctor has asked him to cancel all of his upcoming appointments. We will still have a special revival service Sunday Night please join us! Bro. Chris Guinn will be bringing the message.

Our Fall Revival was scheduled for November 16-18th with Bro Chris Guinn bringing the message Sunday Night at 6:00pm and starting at 7:00 on the 17th with Dr. Hoskins. But since Dr. Hoskins will not be able to attend, we will only have the one service on Sunday, November 16th at 6:00pm with Bro. Chris Guinn.
